There are four different divisions of schooling for which one can get qualified.

Primary Division - Kindergarten to Grade 3

Junior Division - Grades 4 to 6

Intermediate Division - Grades 7 to 10

Senior Division - Grades 11 to 12 (You need to be qualified in specific subject areas at this level.
Senior teachables generally require five university credits as opposed to three for Intermediate
teachables.)

In Brantford, you have to choose between the P/J and J/I divisions. You make this decision when you
are actually applying (so, I applied to the J/I division specifically and was accepted specifically to J/I).

This means that when you graduate, you will be qualified to teach in two divisions.

After graduating, there are one month Additional Basic Qualification courses offered in Primary,
Intermediate and Senior divisions. So, by the time you start your first year of teaching, you could be
qualified in three divisions, if you wanted to be.

In addition to making you more employable, if you want to become a principal someday, you need to
be qualified in three divisions (and then take Principal Qualification courses). (I will likely write more
about Additional Qualifications (AQs) later and somewhere else...!)

The courses offered in Con Ed are the same for P/J and J/I (some are even taught by the same
professors). However, the teachers slant the courses either younger or older depending on the
division.
