If you are in high school and are interested in the Con Ed program, here are some suggestions for what you can do in high school to best prepare yourself for Con Ed. However, please remember that these are just my personal suggestions and opinions based on my own experiences and should NOT be taken as "official" suggestions. Talk to your guidance counsellor to make sure you have the most up-to-date information and official requirements.
I’m pretty sure I’ve covered everything needed for choosing grade 11 courses… math, your subject of interest, a wide variety of “electives” and co-op or a volunteer activity with children. Basically, look at every course you are interested in and ask yourself “how will this help me to become a better teacher?”
I hope at least some of this has been helpful to you! I don’t know what you are interested in teaching or what type of program you want to take at university, but this is what I would suggest for anyone who wants to be a teacher.
If you want to know more about Con Ed, you are more than welcome to ask me any questions you might have. As you might have already guessed (!), I love talking about school. While I enjoy history, and want to be a teacher, my real passion is education. I love learning, I love teaching, I love learning how to teach and teaching how to learn, and I love sharing all of this with other people!
